Luang Pu Maha Sila Sirichanto was born with the name Sila Nilchan on October 14, 1945 (B.E. 2488), during the 8th waxing moon of the 11th month in the Year of the Rooster. He is currently 78 years old. He is the son of Mr. Kaen and Mrs. Noi Nilchan. At the age of 15, he was ordained as a novice monk at Wat That Prathap, and he was ordained into the Maha Nikaya sect in 1966 (B.E. 2509) at Wat Burapha Phiram, Roi Et Province, under the supervision of Phra Siriwutthimethi, who was the provincial monk leader at that time. Luang Pu Maha Sila dedicated himself to studying Buddhist scriptures, successfully passing the highest level of the Dhamma examination (Nak Tham Ek) and receiving the sixth-level Pali certificate. He was presented with the monk’s fan by King Rama IX in 1972 (B.E. 2515) at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). He later became a teacher at Wat Nikom Kunnarama School in Roi Et Province and regularly took the role of reciting the Patimokkha (monk’s code) in various Sangha gatherings.

After mastering the scriptures, Luang Pu Maha Sila embarked on pilgrimages to seek solitude and practice in various provinces, including Udon Thani, Nong Khai, and Chaiyaphum. He walked through the forests of the Phu Mountain range in Sangkhom District, Nong Khai Province, to Phu Khao Kway in Laos in 1974 (B.E. 2517), accompanied by Luang Pho Ban Chat from Wat Ban Chat, Roi Et Province (who has since passed away). During his travels, he encountered many respected teachers, such as Luang Pu Thongma Thavaro, Luang Pu Maha Boonmee Sirintharo, and Luang Pu Lee Kusaladhammo. He also developed spiritual connections with other renowned monks, including Luang Pho Saman Thamrakkhito, Luang Pu Nhu Inthawanno, Luang Pu Somsit Rakkhisiro, and Luang Pu Lom Silasangwaro.

Luang Pu Maha Sila studied Vipassana meditation and the Lao Dhammic script, becoming proficient in reading Isan palm-leaf manuscripts. He also studied various palm-leaf scriptures of the lineage of Somdet Loon from Laos, achieving deep understanding of these ancient texts.

He is a monk in the lineage of Luang Pu Mun Bhuridatta (one of his masters was LP Onsi Sumedho, who was a senior disciple of Ajahn Mun), and received the teachings of wisdom and Phian dharma (or Isan teachings) from Phra Thammarajanuwat (Kaeo Kantopaso), the former abbot of Wat Phra That Phanom.

Since 2007 (B.E. 2550), Luang Pu Maha Sila has sought solitude in many places, including abandoned cemeteries. The abbot of Wat Pho Si Sa-at, who held Luang Pu in great reverence, invited him to spend the rains retreat at the temple. However, Luang Pu Sila preferred to isolate himself at the Ga Pae monastic forest (Sangha Garden / Kae Phet / Kape Monastery Park) within Wat Pho Si Sa-at, in Chiang Kheru subdistrict, Mueang district, Kalasin province. His disciples then constructed a hut for him, and he has resided there ever since.

Phra Dhamma Rattanadilo, the abbot of Wat Suthat Thepwararam, developed deep respect for Luang Pu and invited him to participate in the consecration of Buddha amulets at Wat Suthat and other ceremonies across northeastern Thailand. His disciples have witnessed his mastery of Buddhist practices, his compassion, simplicity, and his extraordinary ability to foresee events with astonishing accuracy.

Currently, Luang Pu Maha Sila Sirichanto resides at Tham Uthayan (Dhamma Park) Luang Pu Sila Sirichanto, Mueang Kalasin District, Kalasin Province. He often visits Wat Phra That Muen Hin. LP Maha Sila founded this temple in 2024 and now serves as abbot.

Several of his amulets have attained a valuation of millions of baht.

He predicted that Bangkok would experience flooding on October 20, 2573 (2030). At that time, people in Bangkok would flee to Khao Yai for refuge. If his forecast is true, his amulet value will rise drastically again.
