Buccha Statue of Luangphor Pern
Made by Wat Bangphra in BE 2548 (2005)
Dimensions: 28 cm (height) x 26 cm x 20 cm.
The bucha is embedded with 14 amulets (among them are 5 takruts) at the bottom. Yant Inscription on the sangkati (the robe on the monk’s shoulder). Tiger image on each side. The condition of the statue is that there is oxidation in some parts, especially the hands. I don’t know how to clean/remove it, please ask an expert about that. So what you see is what you get, for rent as seen in the picture. This LP Pern bucha was rented from Wat Bangphra in BE 2548.
There are three or four temples (wat) with the name Wat Bangphra in Thailand, but the one where LP Pern resided is located in Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom province, which is near Bangkok, about 50 km west of Bangkok.
It is believed to have been built during the Ayutthaya period around 1677 AD. The temple has consistently been supported by the local community. During the time of Abbot Phra Inthachoto (LP Him), he encouraged monks and villagers to join in building a new ordination hall along the Nakhon Chaisi River, which was completed in 1927.
When Luang Phor Pern Thitakunno became the abbot of Wat Bang Phra, he developed the temple, restoring the new ordination hall with concrete and constructing various permanent structures. He continued to improve the temple until his passing. The current abbot, Luang Phor Sam Ang Papasaro, has followed in the footsteps of his predecessors, maintaining and developing the temple with care.
This temple houses many sacred objects revered by many, such as the Buddha relics (from Sri Lanka), a replica of the Buddha’s footprint, Luang Por To (the principal Buddha image in the new ordination hall), Sitthimongkol statues (the principal Buddha image in the old ordination hall), statues of revered monks such as Luang Pu Him, Luang Pu Thongyu, Luang Pu Plian, and the remains of Phra Udom Prachanat (Luang Por Pern Thitakunno).
Wat Bang Phra is also popular among those seeking sacred tattoos (sakyant), as Luangphor Sam Ang Paphasaro has the ability to bless and cast powerful spells on these tattoos. He learned this powerful sakyant from his master LP Pern, and LP Pern studied this sacred technique from the previous abbot Luang Pu Him Inthasoto, an accomplished sakyant master.
