Luang Pu Meechai Kamachinto was a Thai Buddhist monk known for his extraordinary spiritual abilities and miracles. He is often considered a saintly figure among his followers. He is highly revered in the Three Southern Border Provinces (Phang Nga, Yala, and Narathiwat), and several overseas countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Czechoslovakia.

He was a forest monk from Surin Province (near Cambodia border) who once walked barefoot to Malaysia. He established 7 temples in Malaysia. His alms-giving and the amulets he blessed were extremely effective in attracting wealth, and he was affectionately called the ‘Master who cuts off the root of poverty’ by his devotees.

This batch of Khun Paen amulets was created by generous donors and offered to Luang Pu. A total of 15,000 pieces were made, with 12,000 pieces offered to Luang Pu. There are 3,000 pieces of colored Khun Paen amulets, with approximately 232 pieces featuring Takrut embedded, and the Luang Pu’s Hair version one is even rarer!

About LP Meechai

Originally from Surin Province, Luang Pu Meechai Kamachinto is a monk who follows the teachings of Luangphor Dun Atulo of Wat Burapharam Temple, Surin Province, a practitioner in the forest monk tradition, following Luang Pu Mun’s lineage. He practiced in caves for approximately 17-18 years, with his longest stay at Krasaeng Cave in Bannang Sata District, Yala Province. In 2002, Luang Pu journeyed to spread Buddhism in Malaysia, establishing new temples in Penang and Kuala Lumpur. These temples serve as places for Thai Buddhists in Malaysia and Malaysian Buddhists to practice meditation and sustain Buddhism.

Luang Pu Meechai is revered for his pure practices, teaching ability, and dedication to helping relieve the suffering of villagers, which has earned him a large following and numerous stories about his life. He has established several temples as symbols of Buddhism, including the National Elderly Monastery in Surin, and others in Phang Nga, Phuket, Indonesia, Singapore, and Himmapan Mountain Temple in Penang, Malaysia.

Tsunami

Remarkable events have occurred at places associated with Luang Pu Meechai. In Phang Nga, a large Buddha statue he built and the candlesticks in front of it miraculously survived the tsunami, while everything else was destroyed. During the tsunami, Luang Pu was in Penang. He warned his disciples not to go to the sea or beaches, saying a big wave would come. That night, he instructed his disciples to meditate to alleviate the disaster. The next day, news of the tsunami confirmed his prediction, causing many deaths, including in Penang, where it was the only affected area in Malaysia.

Resurrection

When he was 45 years old, he suddenly ‘passed away’ for three days, meaning he stopped breathing for three days and then woke up, which is a legendary story that is truly astonishing. When he returned to the world after transcending the boundaries of life and death, he had already understood the laws of life and death and had reached a higher level of cultivation.

At the age of 52, he went to visit and learned Dhamma under the guidance of the famous LP DUN (Ajahn Dun). Who was Luang Pu Dun? He was the second generation Arhat after Ajahn Mun and one of Ajahn Mun’s earliest disciples, as well as the most accomplished one.
