Ajahn Iead was a great master of the Khao-Or school and was the teacher of Ajahn Chum, Ajahn Khunpan and Ajahn Kong Wat Bansuan. At first, Ajahn Iead was reluctant to teach Ajahn Chum because he always brought different women when he came to the temple. However, with the help of his friend Ajahn Khunpan, who was already a student of Ajahn Iead, he became a guarantor of Ajahn Chum’s behavior.

✅ Ceremony of Phra Mahawan

The consecration ceremony of Phra Mahawan performed on the mountain called “Boonbat” , around the foot of Khao Or in the temple area, a ceremonial marquee was built. Invite all top monks in Pattalung province. All master sit and consecrate using a sacred cable leading from the ceremonial pavilion on the mountain top to the foot of the mountain. In the morning of every day there will be auspicious prayers by monks at the foot of the mountain and one sermon will be preached. Ajahn Iead alone performed the consecration ceremony on the mountain top for 15 days and 15 nights. During the consecration ceremony, everyone is prohibited from climbing the mountain. Only 2 people were allowed to climb : Phra Achan Nam (at that time a layperson, later become monk & abbott of wat donsala) and Pol. Maj. Gen. Khun Phantharak [Ajahn Khunpan]. When the consecration had completed 15 days, Ajahn Iead took all the amulets to consecrate inside Chatthan Cave at the foot of Khao Or for another 7 days and 7 nights. When the time had elapsed, he took the amulets back to Wat Don Sala. Brought into the temple to consecrate for another 7 days and 7 nights, then distributed to volunteer soldiers to fight in the Indochina War.

According the record of Khun Phan who witnessed the ceremony directly, stated that Ajahn Iead blessed all the amulets so that they floated like a swarm of bees. It’s becoming one of the greatest amulet in southern region.
