Phra Ajahn Lee Dhammadharo was one of the foremost teachers in the Thai forest ascetic tradition of meditation founded at the turn of the twentieth century by Phra Ajahn Sao Kantasilo and Phra Ajahn Mun Bhuridatto. His life was short but eventful. Known for his skill as a teacher and his mastery of supernatural powers, he was the first to bring the ascetic tradition out of the forests of the Mekong basin and into the mainstream of Thai Society in central Thailand.

Bodhi leaf shaped Buddha amulets were made for the celebration of 25 centuries of Buddhism in Wat Asokaram. It was copied from an image that LP Lee had seen in Benares, India. L P Lee had materials gathered from scores of places: sacred earth from the Buddhist holy places in India. Fragments of votive tablets once cached away in old chedis, amulets donated by friends and followers from various provinces such as Lopburi, Phitsanuloke, Phijit, Sukhothai, Suphanburi, Ayutthaya, Phetchabun, Songkhla, Ubon Ratchathani, Thaad Phanom district, and Bangkok. L P Lee had fragments of ancient Buddha images from Prajinburi and ancient lustral water made by wise men in the past. All of these are mixed into a paste along with powdered dried flowers and ashes of burnt paper on which Dhamma Passages had been written on it.
