His spiritual mentor was LP Noo Wat Jaeng, a renowned disciple of Lp Dit Wat Pak Sak, the creator of the highly sought-after Phra Sangkachai amulets. Notably, Luang Phor Pong is also the teacher of Ajarn Uthai Wat Wikhansoon.

Story of LP Phong Amulet

After the incident on August 20, 2013, where an M16 rifle was used to chase and shoot at a teenager in downtown Phatthalung, it was revealed that the teenager was unharmed by the bullets, sustaining only bruises. It was later disclosed that this teenager was wearing a sacred amulet of “Phra Khru Sithikarn Son (Phong) Thanuttamo” from Wat Chaeng, Chai Buri Sub-district, Mueang District, Phatthalung Province. Following this news, many people rushed to request these sacred amulets from the temple, causing them to run out in a short period.

“Phor Than Phong” was born on Wednesday, January 4, 1932, in Ban Moo 3, Ton Doi Duan Sub-district, Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung Province. His father’s name was “Huay,” and his mother’s name was “Poon Aksornthong.”

In his childhood, he was praised for being intelligent, clever, and kind-hearted. Later, at the age of 17, he was ordained as a novice monk on January 4, 1949, at Wat Chaeng, Chai Buri Sub-district, Mueang District, Phatthalung, with Phra Athikan Sen Inthasaro serving as his preceptor and he was given the monastic name “Thanuttamo.”

Novice Phong was fully ordained as a monk when he reached 20 years of age (on January 3, 1952) at Wat Chaeng. His preceptor was Phra Athikan Sen Inthasaro from Wat Thamirham, with Phra Phinit Thammakon (Daeng) from Wat Pak Sa as his teaching preceptor, and Phra Baidika Nu Pasanno from Wat Pak Sa as his advising preceptor.

In terms of Buddhist magical knowledge, Phor Than Phong was a master monk who inherited his knowledge from Phor Than Ket of Wat Chaeng and Phor Than Sen of Wat Thamirham. These two were renowned as great master monks of the old generation in Phatthalung Province.

Due to his virtues and good deeds, Phor Than Phong was conferred the ecclesiastical title of “Phra Khru Sithikarn Sophon.” He was also honored by the authorities to carry the water from Khao Mueang, which was used in the sacred water ritual in numerous royal ceremonies.
