He was born in Surin Province on 4th October, 1888. He became monk at the age of 22 and later he came to learned under Ajahn Mun Bhuridatto. For the last 50 years of his life, he resided at Wat Burapharam in Surin. He entered Parinibbana on 30th October, 1983 at the age of 96 years old.

Interesting story LP Dune & LP Sum Akincano

On February 21, 1983, when LP Dune was seriously ill and stayed at the Chulangkorn Hospital in Bangkok , Luangphor Sam Akincano Wat Pra Traiwiwek – a famous meditation monk in Surin who came to visit him in the hospital room. At that time, Luang Pu was resting. Luang Pu Sum sat down near him and raised his hands in respect. LP Dun responded by raising his hands in respect. Then the two of them sat there, perfectly still, for a long time. Finally, after an extremely long time, Luangphor Sum raised his hands in respect once more and said, “I’ll be leaving now.”

“OK,” Luangphor Dune responded.

For the entire two hours, those were the only words I heard them say. After Luangphor Sam left, LP Dune’s disciple couldn’t help but ask Luang Pu, “Luang Pu Sum came and sat here for a long time. Why didn’t you say anything to him?”

Luangphor Dune responded,

“The task is done, so there’s no need to say anything more.”
