In 2013, Luang Por Charan called upon his disciples and devotees to join in creating a great merit-making project to honor Somdej Phra Phuttha Chinwong (Somsak Upasamo), the Supreme Patriarch of the Central Region and a member of the Supreme Sangha Council, who serves as the President of the National Buddhist Propagation Committee. Luang Por Charan, out of his kindness, allowed his disciples, led by the prominent amulet expert Sompop Thaitirasathien, also known as “Ung Muang Chon,” the Vice President of the Thai Amulet Association and President of the Montien Plaza Amulet Club, to be the patron in the creation of the special edition sacred objects known as the “Phrom Bandan Series.”
This series includes various sacred objects such as Phra Kring-Phra Chaiwat, oval-shaped medals featuring the image of Brahma on the reverse, Phra Khun Paen (large-chested and slender-armed versions), lockets, and Phrom Bandan talismans, among others.
Ung Muang Chon mentioned that the reason for creating this series of sacred objects was that Luang Por Charan wished to establish a fund to support the propagation of Buddhism. This fund, chaired by Somdej Phra Buddhachinawong, aims to support the training of Vipassana meditation teachers, provide scholarships for students in Vipassana courses at all levels, and fund the creation of a research-based Tripitaka dictionary in honor of King Rama IX.
The Phrom Bandan Series was created by Wat Ampha Wan, with a limited number produced. The Phra Kring-Phra Chaiwat set for the committee includes 99 sets made of various materials such as gold, silver, and other metals, and mixed with sacred powders from Luang Por Charan. The Phra Chaiwat made of gold will be produced according to the number of orders received. This series also includes materials from the sacred Luang Pu Tim amulets, making them truly powerful and authentic.
As for the Luang Por Charan medal, it is an oval-shaped half-body image with Brahma on the reverse side, available in gold, silver, brass, and polished copper. The Phra Khun Paen amulets come in both large-chested and slender-armed versions, coated in four different colors, with the lockets featuring Brahma on the reverse side, and are set in frames.
The grand consecration ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Ubosot (ordination hall) of Wat Ampha Wan, where Luang Por Charan will preside over the lighting of the victory candle and perform the meditation blessing. Afterward, Somdej Phra Phuttha Chinwong will perform the final meditation blessing and extinguish the victory candle.
